The subject of economics isn’t nearly as complicated as the talking heads on TV make it seem. If you raise taxes on businesses and corporations, those entities will simply pass the burden onto us by raising prices and firing employees. Let’s ignore for a moment the resounding fact that Obama can’t give a tax break to 95% of Americans (which includes a welfare check to the 40% who don’t pay any taxes at all) and deliver on all of his promises. After all, he didn’t deliver on those same promises to the people of Illinois. Let’s instead suppose he can give most of us a tax break while taxing rich people (5% of the nation), businesses and corporations. I suppose we can celebrate our new found “wealth” until we learn that our job will be cut because our company needs to cut “costs”.

When you redistribute income and heavily tax capital gains, you take away the incentive to start a business or invest. You stifle the entrepreneurial spirit of innovation and competition that generates new products, creates new jobs and helps the economy to grow. You foster an attitude of apathy and laziness with an expectation that the government will take care of every need its citizens may have. This is why socialist states tend to fail or become totalitarian police states. Western Europe is a case study in the long term impact of both liberalism and socialism. The incredibly sad truth is that more and more Americans are looking toward Western Europe as a model for our nation. It’s not just unHolywood and the Soros-funded radical left anymore.

I’m working on my masters thesis right now and have Fox and Friends (Fox News) on in the background. They’ve got this liberal “sex therapist and educator” explaining that the recent increase in teen sexual activity rates is due to abstinence only programs. Liberals are so predictable. In fact, the reason for this increase is that the parents of said sexually active kiddies are as much a part of our perverted, sexually-turbocharged culture of death as the dysfunctional, morally bankrupt, sex-in-the-city characters that grace prime time entertainment. These “progressive”, hedonism-indoctrinated parents provide a great role model for children to learn that they can do anything they want, that their own pleasure comes first and that they should seek pleasure with reckless abandon without worrying about consequences or taking any responsibility for their actions. I wonder how many of these parents will be voting for His Holiness the Obamessiah this fall?

Today, the great Messiah Barack Obama was speaking to his eco-indoctrinated Oregonian flock and said this:

We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK

As soon as I heard this, I simply couldn’t contain my laughter. This is the epitome of appeasement! Demanding that we change our ways because the Chinese and the Queen’s “subjects” don’t approve? Deriding our diet and driving habits because the French think we should reduce our carbon footprint? Excuse me, since when did we care what foreign countries think about our lifestyle? With China and India using more and more energy, this type of attitude will lead directly toward American decline, but that makes sense. Obama and his liberal disciples will pursue a policy designed to undermine national security, appease brutal murderous dictators, and sell out the American people. This is exactly what I expect from a liberal like Obama, and if we elect him as our next president, then we will get exactly what we deserve.

In the mean time, I’m going to keep on driving my SUV and be incredibly lazy about recycling. I think I might burn some more plastic bottles too!

I love commenting on Chicago and Illinois – our nation’s shining beacon of liberal gun control laws. Gun control keeps guns off the street, right? Well not according to the Chicago PD superintendent and Mayor Richard Daley.

“Many times [the police are] outgunned, to be very frank,” Daley said at an event in the Englewood neighborhood. “When they come to a scene, someone has a semi-fully-automatic weapon, and you have a little pistol, uh, good luck.”

Liberals don’t even understand firearm terminology, so how can we trust that they know best when legislating firearm laws? A semi-fully automatic?! Huh.. is that like a fully-semi automatic? Or perhaps a automatic semi single shot? Anyway, the Chicago Police are learning what most gun owners and second amendment advocates already know – that gun control has no effect on crime, except enabling it. Not only are fully automatic (illegal) weapons going to find their way into the hands of criminals, cities like Chicago and Washington DC forcibly disarm their populations by denying their citizens the right to carry.

“Officials said the plan is very preliminary. If it’s approved, it is unclear when the officers will get the weapons, how they will be trained and how much it will cost.”

Yes – I’m sure if the plan is approved the citizens of Chicago will feel so much safer. I actually support this plan, but I find it amusing that the city feels it necessary to arm their non-SWAT police officers with high powered assault rifles, yet deny ordinary citizens the right to protect themselves as they walk the same crime-ridden streets.

“On Friday, Daley held a meeting with Weis and civic leaders to talk about the recent increase in violence. Afterward, Daley urged parents to step up and do their part in protecting their children from the lure of the streets.”

Make no mistake – the highest crime rates are characteristic of cities like Chicago and Washington DC. The only people who comply with gun control LAWS are the LAW-ABIDING…. thats right, citizens will voluntarily disarm themselves to comply with the law. Criminals, won’t.. because they are CRIMINALS which, by definition, makes them LAW-BREAKERS.

The People’s Republic of Illinois has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation (stricter then Californistan, in fact). Additionally, Illinois is one of *two* states that deny citizens their right to self defense by banning concealed carry. Universities and malls are gun free victim disarmament zones by default. Northern Illinois University… the Lane Bryant store – both were kill zones. Law enforcement cannot be everywhere at once. Sadly, when a tragedy like this unfolds, the killing will be done before the call for help can even go out. The *only* chance these victims had was to stop the gunman but they obeyed the state law and disarmed themselves. Sadly this state and most Democrat politicians would rather they crawl on their bellies away from the gunman and hide behind a desk waiting for police to arrive. That must be the liberal realization of “self defense”.

No doubt Barack Hussein Obama, senator from the Peoples Republic of Illinois, will use this tragedy as a springboard to advance his political agenda which includes a nation-wide ban on concealed carry. The masses who are easily swayed by his silver tongue will bow down and agree with their fuhrer like the citizens of 1930′s Deutschland. Perhaps they will feel safer… until a routine shopping trip turns into a violent nightmare because of some psychopath who ignored the gun control laws and didn’t see the “gun free” sign.

The solution is not to arm everyone.

The solution is not to ban specific weapons based on cosmetics.

The solution is to address the core sickness and decay in our culture that is incredibly efficient at breeding psychos like this.

The solution is to allow law abiding citizens to exercise their right to self defense.

Today a large number of defenseless students were butchered in an engineering building on the Virginia Tech campus. Virginia is a shall-issue state with a training requirement. That is: the State of Virginia will issue a concealed pistol license provided you meet the eligibility requirements and demonstrate proficiency with the firearm you intend to carry.

However, most universities (to my knowledge) do not allow students to carry concealed weapons on campus even if the students are in possession of a valid CCW license.

I wonder… If campus CCW was legal AND some of the students in that engineering building were responsible gun-owning citizens who also happened to be carrying and in possession of a valid CCW license… would that deranged gunman have taken 33 lives?

House Bill 1572 didn’t get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.

So there was this bill introduced to the Virginia State legislature last year – HB 1572 but it didn’t even get through the House Committee. It died because it would have made liberals feel “unsafe”. The bill, had it been signed into law, would have allowed CCW-licensed, law-abiding gun owners to carry their weapons concealed onto campus grounds. But instead, the liberals decided it would be better to disarm everyone but the criminals who wished to commit mass murder.

Al Gore’s mansion doesn’t bother me one bit. If he wants to own a place that burns up tons of energy and fly on private jets (and he is rich enough to afford the associated expenses) then so be it. He has every right to do so. What upsets me is the fact that he is a [expletive deleted] hypocrite for insisting that we change our ways to “save” the environment.
